Dino & Rocco’s Balesano Waterproofing can help with issues caused by water pressure. We’ve installed thousands of basement perimeter drainage systems/French drains using the highest quality materials and trained technicians.
Groundwater refers to the water that is present beneath the earth’s surface within the soil and rocks. The level of groundwater surrounding a foundation can vary based on factors such as rainfall and soil composition. Depending on what type of earth you build your foundation into (rock, clay, etc.), water pressure can build, forcing groundwater up into your basement which can cause seepage, flooding, and cracking in your slab.
You can never stop groundwater from collecting near your foundation so it’s important to put systems in place to control where it goes. The benefits of having a Basement Perimeter Drainage System/French Drain are:
Think of this like a pressure-release valve. Groundwater will take the path of least resistance. When trapped underneath your slab with pressure building, it’s forced to push through the porous concrete, the cracks in your slab, and the joints near your foundation walls. However, when you have a 4” perforated pipe and a trench filled with crushed stone, the water has plenty of space to travel away from your slab.
A sump pump is a crucial component of any waterproofing system. A basement perimeter drainage system/French drain will capture water before it can flood your living space. But where does the water go from there? That’s when your sump pump comes in. The water will enter the sump pit and begin to rise. The float switch in your sump pump will detect the rising water and pump it through the discharge line under the floor away from your home.
We offer a transferable guarantee (our sump pump annual maintenance plan is highly recommended) with every basement perimeter drainage system/French drain. We feel so confident in offering a guarantee because we don’t cut any corners on quality. From the preparation process to installation, to the products we use, we aim to be the best in the industry.
When preparing to install a basement perimeter drainage system/French drain, the first thing we do is break apart the concrete and dig trenches around the perimeter of your basement. We dig our trenches down to the bottom of the footing. The reason we do this is because the water entering at the bottom of the footing will go directly into the perimeter drainage system/French drain.
A 4-inch perforated pipe is wrapped with filter fabric and covered with ¾ inch crushed stone.
Step 1:
Break the concrete around the perimeter of your basement, then dig down, excavate, and dispose of the material. We’ll need about 5 feet of clearance around the perimeter of your basement.
Step 2:
We’ll lay a bed of ¾ inch-crushed stone in the trench.
Step 3:
Install a 4-inch perforated drainpipe wrapped with filter fabric.
Step 4:
Then add the rest of the ¾ inch crushed stone and re-cement all work.
Step 5:
Give the cement 72 hours to cure and you can move your belongings back to their original locations.
