Water Pressure

up into your basement.
Seepage
Water seepage happens from side walls or where your walls meet the floor. When it rains or snow melts, water travels down outside of your foundation wall and starts to seep in and over the concrete slab.
Wicking
Your basement floor might be sitting on wet clay soil which retains water. Even though you’re not flooding, the soil under the slab is absorbing moisture because concrete is porous acting as a sponge causing discoloration. It’s not water that you can mop up, it’s dampness.
